The Story of Cray Dimensional

I wasn't always an author.

As a matter of fact, I spent most of my time programming computers. But something happened to me that changed my perspective. For several years the story of Psych Wars developed in my mind. It wasn't until September 2017 that I decided to put Faith and Randy's struggles to paper.

What I discovered in the process is that I love writing. It gives me a sense of peace as the stories unfold in my mind. So I decided to continue my journey as an author — and take my readers along for the ride.

Through the Eyes of a Canine

A new short story in the beloved Ring of Fire universe.

My latest published short fiction appears in Eric Flint's 1632 & Beyond, the ongoing magazine continuing the celebrated alternate-history saga that began with 1632.

Told through a perspective you won't expect, it's a story about loyalty and seeing the world anew — set against the sweeping backdrop of the Ring of Fire.

Psych Wars

Not all wars are fought with bullets on the battlefield.

Some are fought online, where it is unknown if the players are real or imaginary. The marriage of Faith and Randy is threatened by one such psychological battle. Faith, a shy blogger, stumbles on messages from the future warning of a catastrophic event she must prevent — caught between saving Randy, the love of her life, or saving the world.

In the fog of a Psych War it's tough to tell what's real or imaginary. Just when you think you know the answer, the game changes.

New Release

Through the Eyes of a Canine

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, my short story, Through the Eyes of a Canine, will be released in Issue 18 of Eric Flint’s 1632 and Beyond magazine. This magazine is part of an alternate history created from Eric Flint’s 1632 book series. For those of you who are not familiar with the 1632 series, the timeline was altered when a circle of land containing Grantville, West Virginia, from the year 2000 was transported to the year 1631 in Thuringia, Germany, during the 30 Years' War. This results in a mashup of everything in the two civilizations. One of these changes takes the form of health care, including mental health care. That is where Through the Eyes of a Canine comes into play. Through the Eyes of a Canine explores the beginning of the altered timeline through Hilde, a woman from 1631 Germany with a mental health condition. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, though, so I will leave it for you to read. As you can see from my rough self-published novella Psych Wars, the topic of mental health is close to my heart. Eric Flint’s 1632 and Beyond magazine allows me to reimagine mental health care in a world where the start of madhouses and asylums is altered, hopefully for the better. I am grateful to the editors, including Bjorn Hasseler and Chuck Thompson, who included Through the Eyes of a Canine in Eric Flint’s 1632 and Beyond, and I am working on my next story. I’ve come a long way since Psych Wars, and I wouldn’t have gotten to this point in my writing alone. I’d also like to thank my family for their support, Wulf Moon and the Wulf Pack Writing Group for introducing me to this venue, and John Edward and Kevin Stevenson from the Southeastern Writers Association (SWA) for listening to my ideas on the early stages of this story. I hope you enjoy reading Through the Eyes of a Canine and remember, small steps add up to miles./p> Read post →

Endless Loop

Colorful lines of computer code
Confusing World of Computer World

A black night christened with an orange moon
Beckons my family to sleep with its silent tune.

But I don't feel the pull of slumber.
My mind can't stop processing the clutter.

It's like a computer stuck in an infinite loop.
Continuously crunching the data from Internet and books.

Each word, font, or letter is a clue,
For a solution to the problem it pursues.

How can I bring all people together?
When dissimilarity makes them bicker.

There is no answer to discover.
So, my mind is left continuously searching clutter.

Round and round it goes
Blocking out the real-world woes

Like my child's request that he would like,
His mama to teach him to ride a bike.

I'm happy to say the loop was finally broken,
By outside help who showed me I'm not alone.

Now in the sunshine I cry with joy,
As I play baseball with my boy.

My mind now focuses on problems that end,
Like how to make a single friend.
